Free to be Christ’s

Sometimes we get stuck. Sometimes we choose to live our lives according to what others think. Or, we rely on our feelings to get us through this season, or this year, or this circumstance. We feel sorry for ourselves, want others to join us in the “pity party.” We’re not living in victory, we’re living in bondage to outside influence, unchecked emotions and have absolutely no peace or joy.

I love the Message’s rendering of Galatians 2:20, 21:

My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not “mine,” but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not going to go back on that.

Wow. Paul is laying quite a lesson of freedom and victory on us.

He’s talking about what happens to us when we encounter Jesus. When He looks us straight in the eyes, we know, as Paul knew, that are ego should no longer be the center of the universe. He is.

We also get a perspective on living the life. It’s not ours, nor is it in the hands of others. It’s in Jesus’ hands. We live by faith and realize every moment of every day what Christ did for us to have this life. He gave of Himself.

So, we’re free. We’re not bound and shackled by the opinions of men, we’re free to live the abundant life Christ modeled. We’re free to love God, free to love and serve others, and free to reach the full potential of what God has called us to be and do.

We’re free to be Christ’s.

I know, I’m still learning how to do this, but the learning is far better than being stuck. Do you feel free to be Christ’s?  What is helping you the most to live the life He came to give you?
