I confess. Patience is not easy for me. I hate lines, long explanations, waiting on hold and driving in the slow/right lane.  Not surprising, most of the time, I have no patience with myself. Usually, I'm my worst enemy. I always know I can do better, and be better. I don't know about you, but I sometimes I put far too many expectations on myself. I rob myself of peace.

Paul writes in Philippians 1:6, “And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.” (Amplified Bible)

What a relief for someone like me (and maybe you as well). We don’t have to be discouraged with ourselves because we haven’t arrived, or we don’t know all the answers. We just have to “press on”.

Paul is “convinced” and I have to tell you if somebody as smart and Godly as Paul is convinced, I’m in. . .

He says, “will continue”. That means the work has begun in me and it’s ongoing. It's daily. It’s staying with it, staying connected to Him and realizing that every step is a new adventure with Him.

Then, he says, “developing that good work”. So it not only continues, it’s always developing. We’re always maturing, always being molded and shaped in His image as long as we stay connected and open.

This is a key verse for those of us who are type-A, never-satisfied people. It gives those of us who seem to have no patience with ourselves real hope.

Remember:

• God is pleased with us and He loves us

• Keep pressing on

• God is dealing with us and working on us and through us every day

• Enjoy the journey with Him
